Generously sized teapot for those who wish to savour their tea time longer—with the rare convenience of direct-flame heating.
Made from Banko-yaki (ware) in Mie, Japan, renowned for excellent heat resistance, this 1-litre teapot can be placed directly over a flame to draw out tea's rich aroma. Especially ideal for tea that suits high temperature brewing - like hojicha, chai tea, etc. The earthenware's far-infrared effects mellow the water, whilst superior heat retention keeps it warm longer.
The striking natural rattan handle is bent and shaped by hand—a nearly extinct craft preserved through collaboration with an artisan from Shimane who personally learned and mastered this technique. Each handle is unique, making mass production impossible.
The milky white glaze offers a warm yet refined look and will match easily with existing tea cups and mugs. Crazing (fine cracks in the glaze) will gradually absorb tea colour with use, developing a beautiful patina over time. The interior features minimal grooves for easy cleaning and removing tea leaves.
