The "Echizen Hard Lacquer" finish was developed through collaboration between Fukui Prefecture and Fukui University—creating a durable coating that withstands dishwashers while maintaining the beauty of traditional lacquerware.

Crafted using the shinnuri technique, where lacquer is filtered multiple times to remove dust and applied in a single, brushstroke-free layer. The result is a smooth, resilient surface suited to everyday use.

The bowl's form is rooted in the traditional "Asakura Bowl" shape—a solid, stable base with a characteristic flared rim that curves outward making it comfortable to hold and easy to bring to your mouth. This is a mid sized bowl typical for miso soup in Japan, which works well for all variety of soup or as a individual rice bowl.
