This Mino ware plate fits seamlessly into the modern dining table while honouring centuries of tea-master-favoured pottery tradition.

Created by Nakagawa in collaboration with a Mino kiln as part of the "Essential Set" series—designed for effortless daily use of regional Japanese tableware. This piece showcases Mino ware's distinctive character, where flowing glaze and irregular shapes are appreciated as beauty, whilst blending naturally into modern table scenes.

In 16cm, it's a perfect size for small plate dishes, bread or desserts and adds a casual and relaxed mood to the table. Also available in larger 21 cm size, they are good to mix and match size and colours too. The raised rim holds sauces or liquids well.

Available in two traditional glazes: "Kairagi" light grey with its crinkled, granular texture beloved by tea masters and "Ao-Oribe" featuring striking green developed under Furuta Oribe's guidance.

[Before First Use]
To prevent staining and protect the fine surface cracks (crazing), we recommend performing the following preparation steps:

1. Place the ceramic item in a pot with rice rinsing water (or, plain water with a handful of uncooked rice or table spoon of flour)
2. Heat over medium-low heat until just before boiling
3. Simmer gently for about 15 minutes
4. Turn off the heat and allow to cool completely to room temperature in the liquid
5. Remove, wash thoroughly with mild detergent, and dry completely before use

This traditional "sealing" process fills the microscopic pores in the clay, helping to prevent stains and extend the life of your ceramic piece.
