Takayama chasen (tea whisk) crafted by Tango Tanimura of Wahokudō—twentieth-generation master of a 500-year lineage. A beautiful piece of art in itself, each whisk has a natural character of the bamboo and the premium functionality of creating the frothy, creamy matcha to savour.

Crafted from Nara bamboo suited to Japan's climate, each whisk is meticulously shaved thinly, preserving the bamboo fibres for supple, resilient tips with excellent durability. In Takayama, the art of tea whisk making is passed down through a single heir, employing almost exclusively small knives and fingertips—hence termed the "art of the fingertips."

Takayama has been a major production centre for chasen since the Muromachi period. The Wahokudō Tanimura family were granted the name "Tango" by the Tokugawa shogunate during the Edo period.
