THE Rice Bowl series celebrates Japan's ceramic diversity among production regions. Each bowl showcases the unique characteristics of its origin—making regional differences beautifully clear.
This Kiyomizu edition represents the refined pottery tradition born near Kiyomizu-dera temple in Kyoto. Legendary artisans like Nonomura Ninsei and Ogata Kenzan, active in the early Edo period, created unique designs and techniques that continue to influence this tradition today.
THE Rice Bowl "Kiyomizu" is crafted using the kohiki (powder-glazed) technique—a white clay base that creates the soft, refined surface characteristic of Kiyomizu's elegant aesthetic.
The proportions are designed to nestle best in your hand. The size was considered with natural finger proportions and is a shape that simply feels right.
