A compact Japanese teapot perfect for serving 2-3 people, in Hasami porcelain
The softly grey-toned white porcelain is decorated with a hand-painted indigo (gosu) motif. Subtle variations in the brushwork and glaze give each piece a gentle warmth and character that only hand painting can achieve.
Part of the IROHA series by Barbar, the design draws inspiration from Kurawanka-wan—simple porcelain bowls produced in Hasami during the Edo period for everyday use. The series revisits historic patterns once used on these humble tablewares.
We offer two motifs: Marumon (circle) and Kikumon (chrysanthemum). The circle, associated with the sun, symbolises vitality and continuity, while the chrysanthemum has long been regarded in Japan as a flower representing nobility, longevity, and protective strength.
