A hand-painted porcelain rice bowl from Keizan Kiln in Arita Town, Saga Prefecture, depicting sparrows perched among scattered rice ears — a motif from the Imari tradition of the Edo period.
Sparrows and rice ears were a popular decorative subject during the Edo period, painted as an expression of hope for the harvest. Keizan Kiln is known for precise and delicate brushwork, and each bowl is hand-painted — so no two are identical.
Light and easy to hold for adults and children alike. The bowl holds approximately 150g of rice — a standard portion — with a range from around 100g to 200g.
Part of Nakagawa's Good Day Rice Bowl collection, which brings together hand-painted patterns from kilns across Japan.
